I used a basic ND filter to help cut out the ultra contrast and did a little post-processing.

What drone/camera are you using? Do you recall what your ISO & Shutter speed was set at?

+regnur deej THANKS! First, register your drone with FAA. Second, get permission of the main subjects in which you'll be filming. The FAA has specific guidelines as to what you can or can't film. Always get permission...that'll keep you in good faith with the authorities and the people around you.

I don't mean to sound rude but your response doesn't really answer the question. You say get permission from the main subjects you'll be filming but your main subject is the city of San Antonio. So, do you mean that you have to get permission from the city? Are there permits involved? Fees? etc.?

Yes, get permission with the City of San Antonio and/or any major subjects of interest that may be concerning (i.e. Main Plaza / San Fernando Cathedral...go to mainplaza.org and call them to obtain permission to fly). Now that the FAA has officially imposed Part 107, you'll need to show proof that you've passed the test, paid your fee ($150) and TSA has cleared you to fly. I have not come across anyone who has charged/fee'd me to fly and capture their property from the air. But then again, I haven't flown downtown in a while, so things may have changed.

I had to get clearance with local PD. It was in the early morning of Labor Day Monday; no one around, no businesses open... Everyone thought it was safe for me (at the time) to film that high. Now, with the crackdown from the FAA, local PD and other authorities may not be as willing to grant access. Thankfully, I'm in good graces with them as I've demonstrated safety first precautions before I fly as well as a heads up on the communication bit.

Are they making a big deal about flying around town? I planned on shooting early mornings and the missions

I was to understand that no one but the FAA can approve above 400. Local PD, city, etc can restrict flying in areas. I spoke to one of the task force guys in Dallas.

+Nick Tsakiris if you shoot on a day where businesses aren't open and people aren't abundantly present, there shouldn't be a big deal. But I'd still give them (PD and mission authorities) a heads up that you'll be doing some aerial videography at X time on X date. it'll help alleviate any confusion from and officers that aren't aware of what our rights are and aren't. Also, if you have your drone marked with the FAA registration number and your FAA license with you, that should help legitimize your intentions. Safety first!

Cool. Still flying under hobbyist. I'm registering my N-number as I have until Feb to do it. I've just submitted my 333 exemption. I always fly when crowds are down. Never risk anyone's safety. Thanks for the reply! Hope you have a great New Years!
